Abstract

|
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a disease of considerable clinical and morphologic diversity. The FAB group defined CLL cases showing prolymphocytic transformation as ¡Èmixed cell type of CLL ¡Èand classified into two groups: one is CLL/PL
type
with 10-55% of prolymphocytes and the other showing a spectrum of cells from small to large lymphocytes with tendency to cytoplasmic basophilia and less than 10% of prolymphocytes in peripheral blood. We report a case of mixed cell type of CLL,
belonging to CLL/PL type The patient was a 70-year-old temale, showing marked lymphocytosis (WBC 180,000/¥ìl, lymphocytes 98%), of which 37% was prolymphocytes. The immunophenotype was B cell CLL : CD5, CD19, CD20, HLA-DR and SmIg positive.
